Google Searching techniques – Special queries – Part 3

So far we have seen queries that mostly dealt with restricting searches .  Now , lets see some special queries which are really interesting .

Range Query

[#]. .[#]

The above (..) Searches within a range of numbers. eg: Buckingham Palace 2000..2009 (Search for Dave Barry articles mentioning pirates written in these years.)

Some special queries

define:

Show a definition for a word or phrase. eg: Define: Testimonial (Show a definition for the word Testimonial and search result for the word )

phonebook:

this list all phonebook listings.eg: phonebook: William CA (Search for william’s phone numbers in California – CA)
Note : this is specific to USA . Doesnt work for other countries

rphonebook:

Show residential phonebook listings. eg: rphonebook: bill clinton CA (Search for the phone number of every Bill clinton in California State – CA )

Now comes the most interesting thing.

Have you ever wondered of any movie showtime or how does the movie actually look like.Google gives option for this too.

movie:

Find reviews and showtimes.eg: movie: slumdog millionaire ( This Searches for information about this movie, including reviews,show times, etc.)

stocks:

Given ticker symbols, show stock information stocks: goog (Find Google’s current stock price.)

weather

Given a location (US zip code or city), show the weather. eg: weather mumbai (Show the current weather and forecast )

book (or books)

Search full-text of books.eg: book Ender’s Game (Show book-related information.)

Time

Finds the current time in the city. eg: time melbourne

Sports Scores

To see scores and schedules for sports teams type the team name or league name into the search box. This is enabled for the English Premier League, National Football League, National Hockey League, and Major League Baseball.

flight

Finds flight status for arriving and departing U.S. flights. eg: flight American airlines 18

Currency conversion

Converts currency using its built-in currency converter. eg: 150 GBP in USD
